New surgical approach - spinal cord injury - new hope
by JA
In tribute of how many like you do they give a kick in the (im)possible one and do not give up.
A new hope is born for all of them who see lost part of his human dignity with the immobility, being a paraplegic or tetraplegic, victims of accidents of the whole sort. It is one more step in the evolution of the science and of the medicine, in individual of the neurosurgery, allowing to increase the flame of hope with this new methodology of operation for the one who sees his human dignity reduced by the violence of an accident that affects the spinal marrow and affects the locomotor movements.
The Doctor António J. Reis, Portuguese neurosurgeon, sees his work recognized internationally through the publication in the BioMed Central; National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health (NCBI) recognize to, already attracting the attentions of the community CureCare, one of the most highly thought of search extended in the Internet in this area.
An extraordinary work of team who wraps medical professionals of neurosurgery, orthopedy, anaesthesia, physiotherapy between others. The physiotherapy preparation before the surgery is fundamental and the post-operative period of recuperation is led by the professional physiotherapist Graça Mendes, whose hands, the knowledge, the knowledge to do and the sensibility they wrap the body of the patients to "understand" his posture, to model the physical exercises on the level of evolution of the human body and to develop the personal will in the evolutive distance of recovery.
What more matters in his opinion is the good to be and the evolution of the patients, recognizing extraordinary results, a gigantic step for the humanity, particularly for that that with effort and reduplicate courage learn again to walk, step by step, when they are recovering his autonomy and his dignity.
The results speak for you, in agreement with the abstract: "The patients had no postoperative problems and not only retained all neurological functions but also showed neurological recovery. According to the motor and sensory scale of the American Spinal Injury Association, the recoveries were motor 20.6% [P < 0.001], touch 15.6% [P < 0.001] and pinprick 14.4% [P < 0.001]. These patients showed no signs of relapse at 4-66 month follow-up."
And reality as I see every day with my friend Isidro is very presenter.
